Case studies
Challenge: The project had a few challenges, size of the overall pieces and there relation to cost and creating a method to replace perfect binding on a small number of pages, yet providing the same clean professional look.
Approach: Graphic Direction looked at the job from the end result and worked
backwards to determine which paper products, binding and print solution
would make the most sense. There were also limited machinery options to
consider. GD first determined what size the inside documents would need to
be, which then dictated what the limitations would be on the portfolio case.
English and French quantities and future uses were also factored into the
solution decision.
R&D was done on varnish usage by tinting, and other solutions. 6 test press
runs took place. Tests were also completed on various binding methods.

Aim Trimark
Project: A marketing print piece targeted towards a small, affluent group of investors.
Designer’s Vision: A professional, oversized piece, housed in a portfolio case. The designer wanted it to be as big as possible, while still being practical. Consultation with Graphic Direction was required in regards to size restrictions, binding methods and print capabilities of selected papers.
